Original article published March 24th, 2025: Even as fresher propositions like the New Balance 2010 and New Balance 2000 loom, the New Balance 1000 is holding onto spotlight position in the Boston brand’s catalog, issuing fresh collab product and mainline variations alike. Though we’re still relatively early into the shoe’s retro, arguably its most successful looks have captured “split” color-blocking, a history that sets the New Balance 1000 “Dark Olivine” up for success from the jump.

As promised, by pinning the titular militaristic hue on the mudguard and heel panel, New Balance weights the bottom half of the shoe in darker tonality, continued with the molded black midsole underfoot. Tinted up olive tones on the mesh/synthetic base layer continue the earthy embrace, while a dose of light grey on the sock-liner and midfoot shank deliver the brand’s trademark steely shades.

The New Balance 1000 “Dark Olivine” is available early via Extra Butter, retailing for $150. A wider release via the typical New Balance channels should be coming in short order if you miss out on this initial drop. Hit the “Where To Buy” widget just ahead for direct pick-up links.
