The New Balance 2002R “True Red” Debuts Gradient Mesh

New Balance isn’t without models that can drum up brand heat. With the help of partners like Joe Freshgoods, KITH and Stone Island (or even unassisted), they’ve managed to spark conversations around silos like the 992, 997.5, 998, 2010 and 2000 in just the month and change preceding this writeup. However, we know it takes more than just collaborations to sustain a brand; exactly the lane the New Balance 2002R continues to succeed in. The model just emerged in a radiating “True Red” arrangement.

Again, given its status as one of the more easily accessible silhouettes in the New Balance catalog, we don’t usually expect any particularly experimental looks to grace the silhouette. However, the gradient mesh foundation here can only be described in those terms. The design choice works to imbue the shoe with a genuine sense of heat and motion as “True Red” tonality eminates from the center of the shoe onto the surrounding jet black edges.

As mentioned in our subhead, the New Balance 2002R “True Red” is available now via NewBalance.com, retailing for $145. Our “Where To Buy” widget contains direct shopping links, or you can get a sense of what you’ll be getting with the official images included further down.
