The Nike Air Max 90 “Tokyo” Nods To The Yomiuri Giants

The most storied Japanese baseball club in history is getting a special nod from Nike by way of a special edition Air Max 90 “Tokyo” inspired by the Yomiuri Giants. With the 2025 NPB season just commencing days ago, a release of this hotly coveted creation is likely to come soon.

Off the bat, this Air Max 90 borrows the colors of the iconic Giants, a sports franchise that many liken to the New York Yankees. Like the Bronx Bombers, the Yomiuri Giants have the most championships in their respective league and are considered synonymous with a winning culture, star power, and the ability to draw fans globally. A total of fifteen players from the Giants went on to take their talents to Major League Baseball, contributing to the global recognition of the Eastern organization.

While these Air Max 90s don’t outright mention the Giants team, the link is clear; in addition to the black/orange, Nike adds their home city of Tokyo on the heel and tongue with the same jersey lettering seen on the Yomiuri threads (their Away jersey also says “Tokyo” across the chest). Baseball stitching sits exposed along the heel of the shoes just under the badge.

A release is likely coming soon exclusively to Nike Japan; stay tuned for more details and check out the official images below.
