Matt Varga Love it or hate it, the influence of Grace Wales Bonner and her eponymous imprint will always inform how we digest the adidas Samba. Responsible in no small part for pushing the archival icon back to the forefront of sneakers, many of the experimental touches she brought to the shoe have transferred over to mainline colorways. In the latest instance, stitch detailing hits the adidas Samba LT, another cousin to that collab project.
Given its ostensible general release status, there’s certainly a more reigned-in quality with both of the pairs featured here. The timeless gum sole appears on both, grounding opposing off-white and black colorways. That leaves the stitching we’ve referenced throughout as the main attraction, with crossed patterns riding up the Three Stripes and outlining the soccer-inspired “Long Tongue.” The usual dose of gilded branding at the quarter and on the interior closes things out, adding onto the “elevated” atmosphere at play with either shoe.
Information on this adidas Samba LT “Stitch” pack is currently scant — it’s likely that both colorways featured here will hit the adidas site over the next couple of seasons. Retail pricing for the Samba LT model at large hovers around $120, but don’t be shocked if some of the extra touches on these pairs result in a slight premium on that.
