Ahead of the worldwide launch of the Air Max 95 OG “Neon” on April 18th, Nike has snuck in a special surprise that throws back to the early design stages of the iconic running shoe. For the first time, Nike will be releasing the colorway found on Sergio Lozano’s sketches of the silhouette, characterized by a “Reverse Gradient” of the original Black/Grey/Volt colorway.
The shoes were announced on the evening of April 8th, 2025 at a special invite-only event at the MoMA Design Store in SoHo, NYC. With the help of NYC-based filmmaker Ben Solomon, Nike retold the story of the Air Max 95’s influence through the lens of downtown youth of the era, calling out style trends that included ski jackets, hip-packs, and, of course, the Air Max 95. After the film concluded, Nike announced the “Reverse Gradient”, surprising event-goers with an exclusive release.

Pictured below is the original Lozano sketch referenced for this unique release. It flips the fade of grey to white in reverse fashion, with the lowermost white layer filtering into the midsole. The outsole remains a solid black, while three shoe-lace options are included. We must note that the upper suede has a hairy texture and is not consistent with what you will find on the Air Max 95 OG. Nike has announced that this release is exclusive to MoMA. MSRP is $190.
