Matt Varga Maybe Anthony Edwards’ signature line with adidas hasn’t been necessarily unorthodox, but the lifecycle of its first and the lead-up for its second has certainly been longer than we’re accustomed to. The AE 1 is already well past a full calendar year on the market, typically the benchmark at which brands introduce a new chapter. While so far any official word regarding the Georgia product’s sequel effort is absent, we’re beginning to get a sense of what to expect all the same — now visited by adidas Anthony Edwards 2 “Lucid Pink.”
Following an unspoken inclusion in a recent adidas earnings call, the “default” composition of the AE 2 is further set in stone by these shots, depicting fabric mesh sidings with jagged synthetic drape cast over the toe-box and heel. Said new additions do allow for more expressive color-blocking, as the black/beige /pink layout depicted here goes a step further than the two-tone fare that continues to defined the AE 1’s run.
From a compositional standpoint, the materials utilized on the AE 2 signals a shift back to a more traditional basketball shoe build especially when cast next to its predecessor. The inner bootie design and jet black foot entrance mirrors the recent Three Stripes basketball design language explicated by the Dame 9, Harden Vol. 9, and D.O.N. Issue #7. Crucially, many have hailed those futuristic aesthetics as a rising tide that’s brought the brand’s signature roster to its strongest point in recent memory — only time will tell if the adidas Anthony Edwards 2 can live up to the public’s sky-high expectations and join that celebrated class.
The adidas Anthony Edwards 2 “Lucid Pink” is slated to release January 2026, hitting the market with a $130 sticker price.
