Andrew Rizzo The past few years have seen the emergence of a ton of running athleisure brands; a natural outcome given the rise of run clubs since the pandemic era. Due in part to names like Minted NY, SATISFY, and Sporty & Rich, there’s now a new market segment focused on delivering gear that’s both performance-worthy and stylish at the same time. After working with adidas on apparel in the past, Mexico’s Hermanos Koumori (H. Koumori) is the latest athleisure brand to check off a footwear collaboration with the Three Stripes.
The adidas UltraBOOST 5 is the model of choice, presented here in a new, rugged utilitarian style. Gone is the model’s traditional Primeknit fabric, replaced by a no-sew ripstop base featuring protective synthetic tape in high-wear areas. In lieu of a TPU cage, the stripes are made flush with the base layer. Moveover, given the removal of the sock-like Primekint material, a new, separate tongue is required. Rounding out all the highlights, H. Koumori includes a drawstring rope lacing system for an easy on/off wear. Underfoot, the sneaker is complete with the same pillowy BOOST cushioning you know and love.
H. Koumori has two colorway on tap, one in green/black and another in white/beige tones. The brand’s logo and text reading “Scispiritual Engineering” appears on the mudguard of both pairs, complemented by “run with the mind” on the medial side of the BOOST midsole.
The H. Koumori x adidas UltraBOOST 5s are slated to release June 17th via adidas and select retailers, priced at $190 a pop. See official images below if you’re considering scooping these up.
