Whether it’s lived up to Nike’s high hopes is another question entirely, but it’s abundantly clear that Beaverton remains committed to kickstarting a Foamposite revival. Leaning heavily on simplistic editions that harken back to the model’s “golden age” and colorways that have well-established histories (ahem, “Galaxy”), Nike continues to line the newswire with fresh looks for Penny Hardaway’s “signature.” The latest to trickle out is the Nike Air Foamposite Pro “Black,” reportedly circling back in Summer 2026.

As any longtime reader will know, the arrangement of any pair is far from set in store at this early juncture, but given the title here it’s not hard to imagine what the design will have in store. A mesh throat, synthetic siding, and laces all in black can reasonably be expected, delivering on the everlasting nocturnal nickname attached. However, what Foamposite die-hards will surely have a keen eye on is how the traction looks. Depending on your viewpoint, you’re likely either rooting for translucent traction a la the original 1997 “Gum,” a look that kicked off the Foamposite Pro, or the matte finish seen on the 2004 edition as it made its way back to shelves.

Again, the Nike Air Foamposite Pro “Black” is currently slated to tip off for Summer 2026, meaning there’s plenty of time for those details to solidify. Though concrete info isn’t available at the time of this writing, expect the floor for its retail price to be $240, the sticker price that the most recent Foamposite Pro release arrived with.
