Andrew Rizzo The starters for this year’s MLB All-Star Game are in, and unsurprisingly, Shohei Ohtani will once again man the DH spot for the National League. The L.A. Dodgers’ two-way phenom is putting up video game numbers for another season running, leading the NL in homers and a slew of other offensive categories as we approach the break. In continuing to do right by baseball’s brightest star, New Balance just dropped a Shohei Ohtani footwear capsule featuring three models.
Shohei’s signature FuelCell Ohtani 1 Trainer leads the charge, presented in off-white “Bisque” with Dodgers-esque “Team Navy” and “Team Royal” accents. While not shown in the attached galleries below, Ohtani’s signature New Balance cleats also dropped in the same colorway. Then comes the New Balance Minimus TR V2; the trainer version of the Boston brand’s Minimus Trail hiking sneaker. It’s less rugged by comparison, taken with a smoother upper and new sole unit geared toward gym activities. A “Sea Salt/Navy/White” colorway is applied here, including multi-color insoles and a Shohei logo on the outsole. Rounding out the delivery, the New Balance RCVRY slide lands in white with a blue Shohei logo over the top portion.
