Andrew Rizzo 2020 wasn’t too long ago in the grand scheme of things, but it feels like New Balance is so far removed from the days of the 550 and larger retro basketball wave. Tech runners like the 2002R and 1906R leapt to the forefront of the brand’s catalog years ago, and we’re now starting to see the next generation take shape via cuts like the New Balance 2000 and 204L; both of which have huge potential. With that being said, the 550 has maintained a lesser yet still present role in the NB catalog, now the subject of this “Sea Salt” pack set to arrive shortly.
Cleaning up in two simple colorways for the warmer months, the model here takes on a familiar profile with white leather and grey suede up top. The tongue, collar, and branded touches incorporate the accent hues, with one option coming in blue and the other in green. The “Sea Salt” moniker becomes relevant underfoot, with both looks featuring the brand’s hallmark off-white hue on the outsole (basically the equivalent to Nike’s “Sail”).
The New Balance 550 “Sea Salt” pack is due out Fall 2025, meaning sometime between July-September. Expect a $110 MSRP for each colorway if you’re considering copping.
