Since its introduction in 2022, we’ve seen more than 100 distinct make-ups of the New Balance 1906R, not even including the dozens of looks for its strong cadre of off-shoot editions. Given the sheer scale of the silhouette three years deep, it’s fair to wonder if there’s any meat left on the bone, but we’d counter that it’s never been wise to discount the Boston brand’s design team. Touched upon in subtler earlier applications, the New Balance 1906R “Fawn” executes a gradient mesh foundation, a possible new lane for the runner to explore in the coming months.
Simply in the name of full context, we’ll allow that this development isn’t entirely novel, deployed for the New Balance 1906R “Lunar New Year” and Salehe Bembury’s coveted “”Heat Be Hot.” Maybe it’d be better, then, to flag this as the mainline / non-special-edition debut of this ombre aesthetic, evoking desert sunscapes especially when paired with khaki leather overlays and midsole detailing. To truly hammer in the twilight theme, navy courses through said top paneling, as well as peeking through the mesh collar and exposed ABZORB units within the heel.
