The New Balance 1000 might not have the same street presence as the 1906R and 740, but it’s consistently ranked highly in our “Top Stories” category since returning to shelves last year. One of the more notable GR releases of 2025 was the “Black Cat” New Balance 1000 from Spring; a story that undoubtably got traction due to the sneaker’s unofficial yet applicable nickname. Now the Boston brand is circling back with a different all-black style, although this one differs with some key texture swaps.
While still aesthetically similar to the Jordan 4 “Black Cat” returning later this year, these aren’t as suede-heavy as the preceding New Balance 1000. The mudguard and toe appear to be cut from nubuck/suede material, but a mesh base and standard leather top portion keep the shoe closer to its running roots. It would be negligent to suggest this is a viable alternative to one of this year’s most important Jordan releases, but it’s a more than solid option for those who champion all-black kicks on the daily (especially service workers).
The New Balance 1000 “Black” is due our during the Fall 2025 shopping season, priced at $155 in unisex sizes. See official images below and visit our Sneaker Release Dates page to preview more upcoming New Balance.
