The 2025 model returns at the two-decade mark.

The Nike Air Max Plus VII Creeps Towards Debut In Black

Some skew towards Jordans, some can rattle off archival adidas models. Deserving of consideration as the most innovative product line in footwear history, Air Max deservedly has its own cult fanbase, and increasingly Nike has catered towards that sect. Once forgotten propositions like the Air Max Sunder or Air Max TL 2.5 speak to that initiative, and soon another piece of history will be available once again: the Nike Air Max Plus VII.

Peruse through the various offshoots of the Air Max Plus line and you’ll see that there were a ton of big swings, and depending on your perspective, potentially a lot of misses. At the very least, Beaverton designers departed pretty significantly from Sean McDowell’s original as they attempted to strike fitting sequels to the OG Tn. 2005’s Air Max Plus VII was something of a return to form in that regard, keeping the overall shape and tooling of the OG intact but swapping out its palm tree-inspired waves for a dot matrix synthetic pattern instead. Especially with the emergence of the Air Max Dn, that choice should read familiar, as should the “Triple Black” aesthetic that this version delivers, only deviating for the usual yellow/red flares in the Tn branding.

The Nike Air Max Plus VII in “black,” along with the model at large, is expected to debut sometime in the Fall 2025 window (stretching until September). Prepare for a $180 retail price once launched.
