The adidas BW Army – the original German Army Trainer – returned to shelves earlier this year and is continuing to trot out new general release styles. This latest delivery is one of rather militaristic fashion; a “Canvas Pack” set to release August 15th.
Picking up textures commonly seen on military surplus gear, the BW Army here features an almost all-canvas upper with a frayed tongue, heel, and quarter panel. The toe overlay and eyelet strips are cut from suede material, matched by premium suede adidas tags over the tongue. Befitting the style’s clear military aesthetic, upcoming colorways include a light “Brown” and grey-ish “Silver Pebble.” The BW Army was created as and indoor training shoe for the German Federal Defense Force in the 1970s, which makes this “Canvas Pack” a rather fitting ode to the model’s roots.
