Truly, the story of the PUMA Hali 1 is a “it was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” Tyrese Haliburton and his Indiana Pacers went on one of the most improbable runs in NBA history as they made their second-ever NBA Finals this past postseason, rife with odds-defying comebacks, game-winners, and overall series victories. Haliburton going down with an injury in Game 7 put a serious dour on what’d been a storybook narrative for the point guard and PUMA, utilizing the increased spotlight to debut the PUMA Hali 1.

So though Hali himself won’t be available to sport his signature shoe on-court through its initial run on the market, he’s still an integral part of its marketing push. To that end, the All-NBAer took to social media to unveil a first look at an aquatic take on the hoops shoe, our second overall glimpse following the initial rosy counterpart. In similar fashion, the shoe comes flooded in complementary tones, utilizing a slightly different blocking scheme where the Big Cat branding wears contrast shading. The NITRO cushioning, herringbone tread, and internal plate remain in place, but we’ll reserve judgement on the full tech package until PUMA earnestly unwraps the shoe.

The PUMA Hali 1 is still expected to make its retail debut this September; it’s unclear whether where this pair will factor in that initial release schedule. We’ll keep you up to date on this pair via this page and our Sneaker Release Dates hub as more info trickles out.
