The garbage plate in Rochester, the pork roll in New Jersey, crab cakes in Maryland — the list is truly endless. New England and clam chowder have been synonymous for as long as the multi-state metropolis has been considered as such, so it’s only right that one of the region’s foremost retailers looks to the staple food for inspiration.
An enterprise whose three retail locations split between Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, Sneaker Junkies does exactly that as they earn an adidas Gazelle collaboration. As if ripped from a recipe book, the component parts of the 18th century invention each earn real estate here: the cream base fittingly inspiring the suede foundation, the clams themselves manifesting in the Three Stripes branding, and a rather literal touch in the parsley-fied laces. Trust that the special edition touches don’t stop with those broad strokes, though; an anthropomorphic claim on the shaggy green heel cup, graphic picnic table and cracker insoles, and an aged anchor add further character to a collab that wasn’t lacking for it in the first place.
As you’ll note by the 1/800 tag depicted in the shots below, it’ll only be a limited quantity of the Sneaker Junkies x adidas Gazelle “Clam Chowder” making it to the monger. The collab drops on September 13th via the retailer’s three in-store locations and on sneakerjunkiesusa.com.
