Marc Jacobs’ JOY Celebration Inspires Three Converse Chuck 70 Releases

Marc Jacobs’ appreciation for art is no secret, and his Fall/Winter endeavors are proving another spotlight for that fact. The designer and his eponymous label recently announced the “JOY” collection, enlisting visual artists Derrick Adams, David Shrigley, and Hattie Stewart for a full-fleged takeover of the Jacobs catalog. On top of totes, handbags, apparel, and accessories, the program makes its way onto our desks by enlisting a third partner: the Converse Chuck 70.

The former hoops shoe makes a suitable canvas for all three of the aforementioned creatives to adapt their signature styles. Derrick Adams utilizes the tones and textures of his 2024 “Parlay” series to light his design, jumping from neutral solid toanlity to the dice and polka dot patterns that paced those works. Hattie Stewart, by contrast, brings her expressive pop arty style and its flora/fauna themes for a pastel-coated cream pair.

Lastly, David Shrigley utilizes visible brush strokes and his patented typeface for a creamsicle colorway, playing off the capsule’s theme with tiny text on the lateral side: “PLEASE DON’T SPOIL THE JOEY BY MAKING STUPID COMMENTS.” All three variations utilize a leather build and are limited to just 333 pairs, individually numbered inside the tongue.

Check for your size in the  black/white Derrick Adams, cream/blue/pink Hattie Stewart, and orange/white David Shrigley colorways using the attached links. While it would seem these particular versions of the Marc Jacobs x Converse Chuck 70 are exclusive to MarcJacobs.com, select retailers have started listing canvas versions with slight tweaks to the patterning.
