Nike Is Bringing Back The Air Max 95 Zip

The 2000s called... again.

Nike Is Bringing Back The Air Max 95 Zip

For Nike, one of the more prevalent albeit lesser-discussed footwear trends of the Y2K era was the use of zippered shrouds. We saw it in basketball through models like Eric Avar’s Nike Flightposite, and we saw it in running through cuts like the Air Max Sunder and Air Max Craze, all of which have played a role in the ongoing 2000s fashion wave.

Next up from that realm is the Air Max 95 Zip, or the Air Max 95 “Z” as it was called in 2001. A true hate it or love it offshoot, the build sees Sergio Lozano’s iconic silhouette altered with a shrouded, zippered upper that effectively hides the tongue and eyelets. Most 2000s colorways featured leather sidewalls, but for 2025, the Beaverton brand is touching down with two hairy suede styles. One colorway comes in quintessential “Triple Black,” while the other features a navy blue base, multicolor branding, and a burgundy midsole with red Air bubbles. In lockstep with almost every Air Max 95 released for the model’s 30th anniversary this year, the Air Max 95 Zip is made true to its OG form with seamed, big bubble Air units.

Release info for the Air Max 95 Zip is scant as of this writing, but a Fall/Holiday 2025 drop seems most likely. See detailed images of both colorways below and stay tuned for further updates.
