Sometimes, even the trendsetters have to take cues from outside. That’s essentially what Nike, Inc. admitted with the announcement of the Air Jordan 1 Method Of Make v3, retrofitting the iconic silhouette with a host of new textured overlays and a mesh foundation. Carrying the aesthetic cues of Y2K footwear onto the everlasting AJ1 has been a success so far, especially in its debut silver colorway (nearly sold out on Nike.com), so perhaps the shoe at hand following suit means it can strike gold once again.

Interestingly enough, though we stand by our claim that this is on the shortlist of the best Air Jordan 1 Method of Make v3 colorways — especially through the lens of replicating throwback style — it comes with a major material shift away from that concept. Indeed, the diamond mesh base layer is removed here, instead opting for an all-suede build. The 2000s air lives on with a heavy dose of grey in that same section, however, along with some new distressed detailing that appears via a nick toward the toe, a jewel Swoosh evoking brushed metal, and a pre-dusty outsole.
