atmos continues to carry the torch of the late '80s invention.

atmos And adidas Add Another Chapter To Their ZX8000 History With The “G-SNK 11”

In a footwear industry where a straight-up bring-back can often be the most attention-grabbing thing to consumers, we’ve simply got to celebrate when brands continue pushing the envelope. Doubly so when it comes collaboratively, two brands resisting the urge to re-release already successful product and instead forging further editions in ongoing series.

That’s precisely the case with adidas and atmos, well tenured outside of the bounds of the “G-SNK,” but equally finding time to return to the ZX8000 series. Though the G-SNK concept was first founded in 2011 with an original teal, purple, and yellow, the series has truly picked up steam this decade, managing to jump from the third edition in 2020 to the eleventh featured here in the span of just over five years.

Given the extra loud, in-your-face atmosphere that’s paced many of the steps in between, the shoe here almost registers as laidback in comparison. A white mesh foundation pairs with an off-white midsole and a stripe of grey leather at the rear to deliver that neutral base. However, things don’t remain that restrained; teal faux-snakeskin overlays and TPU heel counters deliver glow-in-the-dark features, a hallmark of the G-SNK series and something that was always a cinch to be included as the series passes double digits.

The atmos x adidas ZX8000 “G-SNK 11” releases on September 26th exclusively via atmos Japan. A raffle is now open via the atmos app.
