Eighteen East Toys With Texture On Its Debut ASICS Collaboration

The past few months have made it clear that ASICS wants the GEL-Nimbus 10.1 to be its next big Sportstyle hit. The GEL-Kayano 14 remains a core part of the Japanese brand’s plans, but in terms of collaborations — often a sign of a model’s growth ambitions — the GEL-Nimbus 10.1 has been unmatched. Following a summer that featured projects with KITH, Invincible, END. Clothing, and more, the silhouette is continuing its collaborative run with a new release from New York menswear label Eighteen East — marking the brand’s first partnership with ASICS.

Eighteen East is known for crafting thoughtful, laid-back apparel with a strong sense of purpose and detail, often leaning on patchwork and textural depth. The brand’s debut ASICS collaboration brings that ethos to the Sportstyle model with what it calls “slow” materials, merging casual menswear sensibilities with athletic design. Grey hemp and cotton mesh form the base, layered with black synthetic underlays reminiscent of Jordan Brand’s elephant print, finished with purple edges. Canvas paneling on the toe, forefoot, and heel continues the textural mix, with the toe also carrying the same pattern as the overlays. Semi-translucent ASICS stripes outlined in green with white stitching add definition, while light green accents return on the tongue, lining, and insoles. Underfoot, the same green hue appears on the heel’s GEL cushioning and portions of the tread, while purple details carry through to the forefoot.

The Eighteen East x ASICS GEL-Nimbus 10.1 releases on September 26th at 11:00 AM ET at the Eighteen East studio on Elizabeth Street in Lower Manhattan, followed by a launch at the brand’s Los Angeles location on September 27th. No asics.com release has been confirmed at the time of writing, but it’s possible pairs could surface online in the near future.
