Don’t bury the New Balance 1906L just yet. We exaggerate with that framing, but the hybrid silhouette seemed mortal with its “Khaki” and “Olive” duo, marking the first releases for the silhouette not to produce instant sell-outs upon arrival. If you thought that would herald the model becoming an easily accessible one in the months to come, we’ve got bad news: GANNI helps prove that the New Balance 1906L still has every bit of juice as when it first took over social media feeds.
Coming across our desk via a first look/unboxing, you’ll immediately clock the standout feature on the GANNI New Balance 1906L: a golden snakeskin panel at the tongue and toe. That choice is supported by further beige tonality in the rear midsole and in one of the dual pull-tabs, a signature in the womenswear label’s budding NB catalog. Surrounding those earthy shades is a nod to the techy hallmarks of the 1906 family, as glossy chrome and black leather provide anchoring and further statement flair alike.
The Boston brand has almost entirely relied on in-house variations of the model to drive energy to date, with the notable exception of a monochromatic Junya Watanabe collaboration at the very start of its journey. Nearly a year after that two-pack hit shelves, New Balance again looks to the designer world for collab number two, having already enlisted GANNI on several occasions since 2023.
