Nike Cracks Open “Obsidian” For The Year Of The Air Max 95

The party rages on.

Nike Cracks Open “Obsidian” For The Year Of The Air Max 95

Perhaps we’ll really take stock of the biggest sneaker news (no TM) of 2025 at year’s end, and if we do, undoubtedly the “Big Bubble” Air Max 95 will be in heavy contention. While Nike has sought to replicate the original cushioning of Air Max icons in the past, notably with the Air Max 1, their effort around the anatomy-modeled silhouette has been a genuine full-court press.

If you count its collaborative run and the series of “Neon”-adjacent grey gradient looks as distinct efforts, a third effort has begun to really pick up steam in recent weeks, issuing novel colorways that tend to be readily accessible on Nike.com. The shoe at hand very much fits into that category—a faux-monochrome edition that, despite its comprehensive first impression, breaks up its sidewalls with adjacent navy, dark grey, and black. Largely, though, it’s “what you see is what you get,” only interrupting these dominant dusky shades with lighter grey 3M on the lace loops and branding hits at the tongue and on the insoles.

The Nike Air Max 95 “Obsidian,” like many of the colorways we’ve recently revealed, should be touching down as part of the Swoosh’s Holiday 2025 efforts. A $190 retail price is confirmed.
