Sabrina Ionescu’s NBA 2K24 Cover Lights The Nike Sabrina 3 “Gamer”

Sabrina Ionescu isn’t wanting for much in her trophy cabinet, already amassing a championship, three All-WNBA nods, and multiple three-point titles in just over five years in the W. Each of those above-the-line honors are no doubt headlines in her illustrious yet still budding career, but sometimes it’s the unexpected ones that mean the most.

When she was named the cover athlete for the WNBA edition of NBA 2K24, Ionescu called it a “pretty humbling experience,” tying in the legacy of the series’ cover athletes shortly after: “knowing that a lot of kids […] will dream to be on the cover as well. That’s really what’s important to me.” Though the achievement understandably went unexplored on the Sabrina 2 given the sometimes year-plus cycle of development for any shoe, her selection finally touches down in her line via the Nike Sabrina 3 “Gamer.”

The futuristic palette here derives from the abstract backing behind her action shot, most evident with the blurry streaks of light coursing through the lateral and medial Swooshes. Otherwise, the shoe is dominated by motherboard-like green through the upper, vivid purple on the collar and heel, and a sleek black sole unit that helps add edge to this otherwise vibrant edition.
