The New Balance 2002R Wants To Be Your Everyday Go-To In Black

The New Balance 2002R Wants To Be Your Everyday Go-To In Black

We’re five years removed from the debut (or return) of the New Balance 2002R, and despite the introduction of several adjacent tech runners to the Boston brand’s catalog since, the model remains as common a sight as any.

If you’re among the 2002R’s many devotees — and particularly if you’re a fan of black footwear — New Balance’s Holiday 2025 catalog will leave you well fed. Following a black New Balance 2002R GORE-TEX and “Black/Oat” colorway is this equally stealthy option, shown here via official images.

There’s not much to discuss from a design perspective. Black suede overlays and black leather underlays wrap a mesh base, with the stitched version of the New Balance “N” logo punctuating the quarter. Otherwise, a scattering of red accents on the tongue, midsole, and heel branding adds some subtle spice.

The New Balance 2002R “Black/Red” is due out Holiday 2025 for $155 in men’s sizes. See official images below if you’re considering making these your new go-to.

In related news, the New Balance 204L continues to surface in new colorways.
