The rise of contactless payment options has made transit cards something of a lost art form—something New Yorkers will soon belatedly appreciate when the MTA retires New York City’s iconic yellow-and-blue MetroCard later this year. Soulless pieces of plastic (or simply Apple Pay) are indeed replacing the unique cards that once distinguished the world’s biggest cities, but at the very least, the legend of one of them is rumored to live on through an upcoming Nike SB Dunk Low collection.

Nike SB is rumored to drop a dozen SB Dunk Lows inspired by San Francisco’s Muni Fast Pass, which was retired in 2014 as the city fully switched over to the Clipper Card (gross). The Fast Pass changed color every month, and the city even released special holiday-inspired passes for certain months of the year. Word is that Nike SB will roll out a new “Muni Fast Pass” SB Dunk Low colorway each month in limited quantities, though it remains to be seen when that cycle begins (January 2026 feels like the earliest realistic start).

According to Boarder Town skateshop, the shoes are a tribute to the Municipal Fast Pass used on public transport in San Francisco up until 2014. Home to legendary skate spots like EMB and Pier 7, San Fran’s public transport provided a gateway, bringing skaters together in what is possibly the most influential time in skateboarding history.

San Francisco Muni Fast Pass

Here we have a split “Brown/Orange” colorway, the second to surface behind a “Green/Yellow” look that made the rounds online back in May. The sneaker nods to 2000s Muni Fast Passes with split color blocking and chromatic silver Swoosh logos. A black midsole and grey outsole sit underfoot, while a graphic of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge appears on the insoles.

No concrete info regarding the Nike SB Dunk Low “Muni Fast Pass” collection has been announced yet, but we’ll update our coverage as soon as that changes. In the meantime, see images of the “Brown/Orange” colorway below.
