Nike Renamed Its World Headquarters For The First Time In Decades

Nike’s World Headquarters, located at One Bowerman Dr. in Beaverton, OR, just got a new name. In honor of its co-founder, the brand’s primary office located just outside of Portland will be renamed the Phil H. Knight Campus effective immediately.

In a letter to all Nike employees, current Nike CEO Elliott Hill stated “This is more than a name change…It’s a tribute to the man whose vision created a global movement. And it’s a reminder — to every one of us who will walk these paths and run these fields — of what can happen when belief meets action.”

In the 1960s, Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman started Blue Ribbon Sports; in 1971, the company officially became Nike. From there was the growth of one of the greatest brands ever build on American soil. Knight served as the brand’s CEO until 2004 and was named as a brand’s Chairman Of The Board until 2016. Not long after, Knight’s memoir Shoe Dog would go on to be a New York Times bestseller.

Knight devotes a lot of his post-retirement career to philanthropy, donating billions across several causes.
