The Nike “What The Book” 1 Is Limited To 1,996 Pairs

One last hurrah?

The Nike “What The Book” 1 Is Limited To 1,996 Pairs

The Nike Book 2 era is right around the corner. Devin Booker has been wearing (and blurring out) his second signature Nike Basketball model in private practices, and leaked images of the sneaker have already begun circulating online — meaning an official unveiling is imminent. The Nike Book 1 is therefore due to wind down after a near two-year run, but not before Nike Basketball gives us one last hurrah.

Devin Booker and Nike Basketball are playing the hits with a limited “What The” style featuring elements pulled from past releases — picking up a design theme pioneered by Nike SB and later adopted by Kobe Bryant. With nearly three dozen Book 1 releases and even more player exclusives to pull from, the design possibilities are seemingly endless. Notable inclusions include the “Python,” “Blue Blood,” Miami-exclusive orange colorway, and even the Book 1 “Aurora” releasing in November. Importantly, the sneaker is limited to just 1,996 units for Devin Booker’s birth year, evidenced by a tab reading “1 of 1996” on the lateral side.

The Nike “What The Book” 1 releases December 16, 2025 via Nike SNKRS. The sneaker carries a $170 price tag due to its limited nature and mixed-material construction. See detailed images below and check our Sneaker Release Dates page to browse more upcoming basketball shoes.
