Kudos should go out for their versatility in that as well, tackling the maximalist retro market with the New Balance 2000, placating fans of their suede/mesh runners with the New Balance 2010, and knocking a far more eccentric prompt out of the park with the New Balance Allerdale.
On balance, a “walking shoe” overall shouldn’t work as well as the Allerdale does, but layered uppers and all-day comfort help the shoe nail that prompt. What also certainly doesn’t hurt is its top-of-its-class materiality, derived from the brand’s Flimby-based Made in UK program, on full display with the New Balance Allerdale “Chocolate Brown.” Rich, pebbled leather takes up the entire top portion of the shoe, returning to its base composition after a few forays into suede.
The New Balance Allerdale “Chocolate Brown” has started to populate select overseas retailers, likely indicating that a stateside drop isn’t far behind.
