The legendary comic adds fuel to a budding rivalry.

With The Help Of Katt Williams, Anthony Edwards And adidas Are Taking Shots At Shai And Converse

You still a believer? If you aren’t, Katt Williams has some choice words for you — a splashy inclusion in the latest Anthony Edwards 2 advert.

The ad’s central thesis aims at an unnamed “two guard” that rivals Mr. Edwards. The league’s increasing tilt toward “positionless” ball makes the distinction a bit hazy, but we should note that “a certain two guard” from OKC is either Luguentz Dort or Jalen Williams, depending on which starting lineup the Thunder are relying on. More ironically, both athletes are staunch Three Stripes devotees, two of the foremost non-signature faces for the Harden Vol. 9.

We’ll stop the pedanticism there — obviously, the athlete in question is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, author of an MVP season and an overall game that even Williams admits is beyond reproach. His sneakers? A different question entirely. The stand-up legend’s most barbed shot comes in that realm, saying of Converse, “the game left that brand behind for a reason. What else we bringing back — cigarettes in the locker room?”

Even if you can poke holes in the “Believe That” platform here more than most before it, this adds to what we and the sneaker public continue to regard as one of the most successful marketing campaigns in recent memory. Williams’ inclusion follows up the last A-list cast member, Ice-T, and it being at SGA’s expense is just the latest in a long line of antagonistic spots; his Olympic competition, Dr. Shaquille O’Neal, and every NBAer with a competitor shoe have found themselves in the crosshairs before.

Check out the whole piece below. Note that the Anthony Edwards 2 “Blue Fusion” and Anthony Edwards 2 “AlphaDawg” got some screen time; the former drops on October 25th, while the latter follows this December.
