Taiwanese gold brand kim-a: is releasing a sneaker rivaled in price only by game-worn Jordans and some of the world’s most elusive grails. This weekend’s ComplexCon in Las Vegas will see the unveiling of “The Gold Sneaker” — a Nike Air Force 1 featuring pure gold valued at $330,000.
The sneaker features a design inspired by “The Way of Sun and Moon,” born from the ancient Eastern myth of the Golden Crow and Jade Hare. The left shoe symbolizes darkness with a black colorway and Crow-inspired detailing, while the right comes in white with Hare motifs. Of course, such an endeavor requires top-tier craftsmanship. To create this piece, kim-a: transformed solid gold into ultra-fine 0.1 mm thread and then embroidered the metal through the leather of the Air Force 1 — an extraordinarily delicate process.
No detail has been left untouched. Both sneakers feature kim-a:’s signature blue accent shade, as well as the brand’s Lego-like brick as a lace dubrae. The tongue tag, eyelets, and Nike Air branding on the backtab are all pure gold. Even the midsole is modified with a gold “Air” accent, and the outsole features gold on the toe, heel, and circular areas.
“The Gold Sneaker” by kim-a: will be exhibited at ComplexCon in Las Vegas from October 25th–26th. Interested buyers can inquire through the kim-a: website HERE. The sneaker has been valued at approximately $330,000, though the price may fluctuate with global gold markets.
