Pharrell’s adidas Jellyfish is a certified hit, but with limited supply and soaring resale prices, many would-be buyers have gone home disappointed after the model’s first few drops. If you’re among them, there’s good news ahead: adidas is preparing a budget-friendly, non-collaborative version of the sneaker called the Adistar XLG 2.0, which was unveiled on-foot at ComplexCon this past weekend.
Spotted on the feet of @upscale_vandal, the sneaker tones down some of the exaggerated proportions of the Jellyfish through a few key design tweaks. The stripes and TPU overlays are noticeably slimmer than Pharrell’s Balenciaga-like reimagination, while a longer tongue and oval laces replace the rope setup. The chunky silhouette remains, though the midsole now protrudes more prominently around the heel.
Part of adidas’ “XLG” series, the model continues the brand’s lineup of oversized mashups inspired by past silhouettes — in this case, referencing the Adistar Cushion 3, just like the Jellyfish. adidas released the Adistar XLG 1.0 in early 2024, though it largely flew under the radar.
Given its clear connection to Pharrell’s adidas Jellyfish, the Adistar XLG 2.0 has already sparked (and will continue to fuel) conversation as a true takedown model. Does it dilute what made the Jellyfish special? Should it even exist in the first place? Will it catch on in its own right? All questions that are sure to unfold across the internet sneaker community over the coming months.
When does the adidas Adistar XLG 2.0 release?
Several adidas Adistar XLG 2.0 colorways are planned for Spring 2026, including the “Solar Orange” pair spotted at ComplexCon. See detailed images below and stay tuned for further updates.
