It’s been over two decades since Phil Knight served as CEO of Nike and almost ten years since he stepped down from his Chairman of the Board role, but his persistent competitive drive will forever be part of Nike’s DNA. That was exemplified just last month when Nike renamed its world headquarters for the first time in decades. One Bowerman Drive in Beaverton, Oregon is now the Phil H. Knight Campus.
Of course, as a sneaker company, it’s fitting that Nike’s appreciation for its founder is expressed through footwear. The Oregon Ducks football team has shared images of an Air Jordan 10 PE featuring the printed signatures of both Phil Knight and the model’s designer and fellow Oregon alumnus Tinker Hatfield. The lining and portions of the outsole appear in neon green, while stitched Duck logos land on a grey leather upper.
The sneaker is unveiled as a player edition, but note that the packaging matches what the university uses for its “Ducks Of A Feather” sneaker drops, meaning these could very well end up dropping. DOAF has paid direct tribute to Phil Knight in the past, including a limited all-black Nike Dunk inspired by the founder’s signature wardrobe last year.
The next DOAF sneaker release is a set of egg-inspired Oregon Air Force 1s arriving via GOAT on Black Friday. If the “Oregon” 10s wind up dropping, it would make sense for them to release through GOAT on Black Friday as well.
