Preorders often mean that a large amount of stock will be available, and that the sneaker will ship well after the purchase is placed in order to allow time for production.

Simple as they may be, JJJJound’s New Balance collaborations are highly celebrated and highly sought after. The Montreal design studio has built its reputation on clean-cut, GR-adjacent sneakers that feel understated yet clearly distinct, largely thanks to its consistent use of tonal, earth-based color palettes.
JJJJound has now teased its latest collab with the Boston brand on its Instagram page: a take on the Made in USA New Balance 990v4 silhouette. The studio has worked on this model once before, releasing a compelling “Navy” colorway in 2021 that many (myself included) consider one of its strongest projects.
This edition reprises the “Mushroom” colorway that has become a signature look in the JJJJound x New Balance catalog, previously appearing on the 993 and 991v1. Its most important connection, however, is to the JJJJound x New Balance 990v3 from 2018, the studio’s first-ever New Balance collab and one of the more elusive grails in the NB canon. Given the 990v4 feels like a diet version of the 990v3, this pair is one many will chase, even if the v4 has never reached quite the same cult status as its predecessor. Notable differences include slimmer “N” logos and a mesh tongue instead of the synthetic silver one used on the v3.
No release info for the new JJJJound x New Balance 990v4 has surfaced yet, but a Holiday 2025 or Spring 2026 launch seems likely. See first-look images below and stay tuned for updates.
