Formalwear aesthetics are all the rage right now, from truly novel inventions like the Nike Air Max Phenomena to the building presence of mashups like the New Balance 1906L. So far, Beaverton has leaned into the former side of that equation, ushering in entirely new designs rather than tooling steadfast standards to meet the trend.

Could a reversal of course be underway? It’ll take more to earnestly mark a pattern, but the Nike Dunk Low has appeared in two ritzy leather arrangements that at least sow the seeds of one. While we’ve certainly seen more premium leathers like the ones utilized on these all-black and all-olive colorways before, it’s the swap to thin braided laces a la loafers that really signals the true intentions behind this design. For those who hold Peter Moore’s invention in high regard, fret not; overall, the composition remains true to that, replete with the usual panelling, slim tongue, and sole unit you’d find in any Dunk release on the shelf. Leather liners mark the final divergence for this dress-up for the model.

The Nike Dunk Low in these two luxe applications has already started to populate overseas release calendars.
