Anyone with the shallowest interest in music or internet culture can conjure up images of superstars far and wide, shocked at the personal information one particular Canadian can dredge up. All of this is years upon years in the making, the warm receptions he faces from hip-hop’s A-list a far cry from the days he was nearly rebuked by interviewees like Black Flag frontman Henry Rollins.
Now officially stamping his ascension is the Nardwaur x Nike SB Dunk Low, the journalist’s first link-up with the Swoosh and one he’s described as “a #lifegoal.” It doesn’t take an expert to decipher exactly how the design team landed on this arrangement, coated in multicolor plaid in a faithful adaptation of his Scottish tam o’ shanter headwear. A pom atop the laces bolsters that, while his eccentric wardrobe further influences a range of contrast-colored alternate laces. Overall, the shoe somewhat sticks around in grounded territory due to staid black touches through the Swoosh, sole, and collar. For some final Nard-specific touches, his call-and-response sign-off appears in text bubbles within the outsole traction and on the heels, while his logo dots the insoles above Nike SB emblems.
As these official images surface, the man himself is on a tour of in-person appearances at various metro skate shops. Though he’s already moved through Los Angeles and Toronto, at the time of publication he’s still got London, New York, and Vancouver on the docket (11/28 at Slam City Skates, 11/30 at Route One, 12/4 at Labor, and 12/7 at Menu). The Nardwaur x Nike SB Dunk Low officially drops via skate shops on December 6th before releasing via SNKRS on December 9th. Retail is set at $140 across all of those channels.
