The era of the New Balance RC56 is upon us. Assisted in its public introduction by steadfast partner Aime Leon Dore, New Balance is trickling out some initial general release colorways, largely keeping the silhouette to simplistic palettes as its construction becomes familiar to the general public.

Of a piece with that overall strategy is the New Balance RC56 “Ice Wine,” now listed on the brand’s official site for this month. As a model, the RC56 presents a sportier, masculine take on the slim-sole wave than its catalog peer in the New Balance 204L, partially taking cues from soccer aesthetics yet still keeping to the tech runner formula the Boston Brand continues to benefit from. That retro atmosphere particularly shines through in this application, making heavy use of metallic shades while still maintaining a “goes-with-most-everything” appeal via its dominant neutral tonality.
