Spend enough time in niche sneaker collector circles, and you’ll start to realize that there isn’t a single archival model that doesn’t have some amount of retro demand. While bringbacks of basketball favorites of old and high-profile lifestyle editions are frequent requests, Nike fed into the dedicated fanbase for their Air Max models of old by teeing off a retro effort of the Nike Air Max TL 2.5.
All things considered, that initiative hasn’t set the world on fire by any means, but staying true to the “Total Air” construction from its 2006 debut has meant that it’s been able to find a home with sportier dressers and longtime Swoosh ‘heads. Either set should have some appreciation for the shoe at hand, a blend of olive and black that emphasizes its reflective aspects with contrast stripes throughout the upper. Clear cushioning underfoot and a variety of synthetic textures up top help add depth to what’s overall a simplistic arrangement.
The Nike Air Max TL 2.5 has already started appearing on overseas retail sites, indicating that a US launch shouldn’t be too far behind. Upon arrival stateside, expect the silhouette’s standard $190 retail price.
