If you have a catalog as expansive and deep as Nike, it’s hard to avoid stepping on already-explored territory for too long. As the highly marked run of the Nike Giannis Freak 7 trots along, we’d argue it’s reaching back to one of the most iconic designs of the 2010s in a “Deception” colorway dropping this January.
A patch of dark grey does enough to distinguish this shoe from the iconic Yeezy 2 “Pure Platinum,” but its appearance in general only makes that tacit homage stronger in our minds. Though stateside audiences likely haven’t been face to face with the silhouette, the ST Flare already penned an eyebrow-raising two-pack back in June, with the brighter of the two carrying pretty clear similarities to the pantones utilized on this Freak 7.
Its ties to Swoosh silhouettes of old aside, the Nike Giannis Freak 7 “Deception” is expected to release at the very top of 2026, due out on January 1st for $115.
