In terms of wide appeal, the Converse x Nike x Stranger Things capsule may have been the breakout hit of last year, adapting the series’ retro style onto a tangible set of sneakers that replicate on-screen style. But why stop at just one of Netflix’s most valued properties?
Indeed, that’s the question that Converse Japan is asking, having delivered a similar Stranger Things collaboration soon after its stateside counterpart. Now, the overseas label is looking to Netflix as a whole, pinning the media empire’s branding on a black and red overhaul of the Chuck Taylor. Outside of some extra glossy touches on the Chuck Taylor brand and toe, this shoe keeps things sleek and straightforward overall, utilizing the company’s spell-out logo on the lateral sides and featuring the wonky smiley face of default user profiles inside the tongue. A co-branded box that mirrors the villainous colorway closes out the delivery as a whole.
The Netflix x Converse Chuck Taylor releases on January 23rd, retailing for ¥22,000. As is the case with all Converse Japan drops, this is expected to be exclusive to the island, stemming from their independence from Converse US.
