Matt Varga Links with skate shops are the beating heart of the Nike SB collaborative arm, but you don’t necessarily need a brick-and-mortar location to earn a design under the imprint. That’s what the Bronx Girls Skate x Nike SB Dunk Low demonstrates, as the Beaverton sub-brand is set to join hands with the local community project this month.
First revealed via official images all the way back in September, the launch is inching closer for this stealthy style, built primarily off of stingray-patterned leather in its foremost real estate. The outsoles lay the guiding theme bare, as translucent traction gives way to a graffiti-style train car and “BX” lettering. That’s the connection with the tri-colored piping in the upper, pinning orange, red, and green from the toe to the heel as a representation of the 1/2/3, B/D, and 4/5/6 lines that run to the borough. A “BXGS” dubrae, engraved midsoles, gilded NY emblems on the heel, and a “throw up the X” badge on the interior ensure that the wearer feels the origins of this shoe no matter where you look.
The Bronx Girls Skate x Nike SB Dunk Low hits skate shops on January 23rd, before a wide release via SNKRS on January 27th. Be ready for a $140 retail price through either channel.
