Aimé Leon Dore is at the top of the call sheet when it comes to debuting/reviving New Balance models – a distinction it earned through its mainstream popularization of the 550 as well as Teddy Santis’ ongoing work as the Made in USA creative head. The New Balance Gator Run is one of the brand’s new focus silhouettes for 2026, here teased by the ALD founder himself in an all-new style rooted in the brand’s trail running heritage.
This particular blue and yellow combination recalls the New Balance Trail 355, which was advertised in this exact colorway in magazines dating back to the late ’70s. The tongue and sides appear to be constructed from nylon, while the eyelets, toe, heel, and mudguard are done in suede. Yellow suede “N” logos land at the quarter, matched by more yellow on the lining and laces.
The New Balance Gator Run originally released in the ’80s as a versatile turf shoe designed for multiple sports. An aggressive tread pattern featuring large lugs rests underfoot, while the upper largely takes after retro tennis silhouettes like the T500 and similar models. The shoe returned earlier this month via two croc skin styles and is now rather expectedly branching out into different builds. This blue and yellow nylon makeup (or “Laney” if you’re so inclined) complements the silhouette perfectly. We’ll also note that Teddy’s teaser image shows a number of T500 samples in the background, a model ALD has collaborated on several times in the past.
The Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance Gator Run doesn’t have a concrete release date yet, but know that our Sneaker Release Dates page will be kept current with all available info.
