Serving as the sneaker grand finale alongside the show itself, the “Stranger Things” Foams draw inspiration from the “Upside Down” dimension, featuring an ominous mix of red lightning and creeping vines. Cracked leather eyelets and fuzzy, vine-inspired laces add to the theme, while the Penny logo is flipped upside down at the heel. Hit the lights and you’ll find that the outsole and vine detailing glow in the dark. Multiple pins tied to Stranger Things Season 5 are included, as is a special shoebox.
It’s worth noting that while previous Stranger Things x Nike releases stayed true to the show’s timeline with models that could have theoretically been worn by its characters, the Foamposite One breaks that rule entirely (released in the late ’90s). The sneaker is somewhat unique for a licensing collaboration, drawing a good amount of praise from those who haven’t watched the show at all. OG collectors have pointed to a loose “Paranorman” connection, though that comparison is purely aesthetic.
