Is 2026 the year Air Max Day gets its mojo back? We’ll hold off on making any firm calls, but after a couple of lukewarm showings in recent years, Nike’s new 2026 model at least signals a renewed willingness to push the category into new territory.

The Air Liquid Max introduces a sculpted, point-loaded Air Max unit underfoot, delivering support where it’s needed while trimming unnecessary weight. The upper, meanwhile, draws inspiration from the poison dart frog, executed through a three-layer mesh construction featuring hundreds of small dots. Together, the end result is an all-new model priced at a whopping $230, making it one of the most expensive Air Max offerings to date. Whether the shoe resonates – especially at that price point – remains to be seen, but it’s at least encouraging to see the Swoosh push the Air Max category in a bold new direction.
