New Balance’s love for the color grey, so often attached to their monopoly on the “dad shoe,” was first a punchline and now a point of pride. Leaning into their love for neutrals, the Boston brand has built out a yearly catalog celebration: “Grey Days.”
Seeds of what was in the works have been planted over the past few weeks, but now we see the full red carpet treatment for what May 2026 will behold. Longtime readers will recognize that we’ve been beating the drum on just how many new models that New Balance has introduced in the past year and change, yet it takes until a company-wide showcase like this to really get your arms around it.
Many of those new faces we’ve come across over that span get star roles for this effort, beginning with the New Balance 5030 and New Balance 1890. The former might just have the most immediately arresting outfit, coated in shimmering chrome in its uppers and helping accentuate its molded, curvy build within that. By contrast, the New Balance 1890 has been all flash to date, through Action Bronson’s, Joe Freshgoods’, or inline efforts, yet here it takes on far more muted tones befitting the holiday.
For some longer-tenured silhouettes, the New Balance 2010 splits the difference with similarly silvery overlays and a gradient midsole, the New Balance 2000 offers a drenched dark grey, and the New Balance 204L leans on the Y2K aesthetics it’s majored in to date.
Skating gets a large portion of the offerings. Tiago Lemos’ and Andrew Reynolds’ signature shoes as well as the Numeric 770 diverge a bit from their peers by spotlighting rich browns along with the inescapable grey hues seen elsewhere. Finally, earnest performance earns a few moments to close; FuelCell Rebel v5, 1080v15, and Coco CG2 round out the efforts.
Some of the New Balance 2026 collection is already available via NewBalance.com, but there are some key drop dates to keep in mind. The ABZORB 2010 launches on May 8th, the 2000 and 5030 on May 15th, the 1890 on May 22nd, and the skating section on May 29th.
