This Patent Leather Nike SB Dunk Low Celebrates The Brand’s 25th Anniversary

Update: Additional images of the Nike SB Dunk Low “Green Patent” have touched down, now revealing “Depuis 2002” (“Since 2002” in French) text behind the tongue. Reportedly, these are set for New Years Day 2027, but this can easily be a placeholder date. This pair does appear to be aligned with the 25th anniversary Nike SB’s founding in 2002 as a sub-label, so it’s fair to expect this colorway dropping sometime in the opening half of ’27.

If there were ever a Nike SB Dunk Low made for collectors rather than actual skaters, it might be this one. Sneaker leaker @kcscowboys1977 has shared detailed images of a sample expected to materialize later this year, featuring a full green patent leather upper and cork insoles.

There’s no sugarcoating it: patent leather, as skaters know, is one of the absolute worst materials for a skate shoe. Bad for comfort, bad for flick. Just bad in general. That being said, Nike SB has traveled down this road before, namely with Jordan-inspired styles like the “Space Jam” and 2000s grails like the “Hawaii” and “Mafia” Dunks.

Dark green patent leather forms the base, joined metallic gold on the Swoosh and backtab. Cork insoles, while generally regarded as comfortable, mean these don’t come with the same extra Zoom Air cushioning as other SB Dunks.

There’s a chance these could be tied to LeBron James and his run of “SVSM” sneakers with the Swoosh, a theory supported by the matching green and gold palette and the lion and crown crest on the tongue loop. We’ll hold off on making any hard claims for now, but such a tribute wouldn’t be out of character for Nike SB, especially as LeBron continues on in the twilight of his playing career.

The Nike SB Dunk Low “Green Patent” is expected to release later this year in men’s sizes for $130. We’ll update our coverage as soon as we’ve got more images and release info to share.
