No one could fault Jordan Brand for being too precious with their Retros. Hardware and material experimentations are already on the menu for 2027, as news of the Air Jordan 3 “Utility” hits the newswire.
Long-time Jordanists know the drill by now: mock-ups are speculative at this stage, but a color palette of “Black/Black/Black/Fire Red” is confirmed. These initial renderings depict a new lace/tongue protrusion and a rope tab at the rear of this design.
This “Utility” sub-head already has something of a storied history for Jordan Brand, most obviously influencing the Air Jordan 1 “Utility” that added a strapped zip pouch to the rear of the shoe. The Air Jordan 12 “Utility” adapted the concept in less transformational fashion, echoing workwear and outdoors gear with a stealthy base and speckled soles. In that vein, the Air Jordan 3 isn’t a stranger to those aesthetics, ushering in an ACG-esque “We Outside.” This adults pair is expected to center on said pull tab at the heel as its foremost design tweak.
The Air Jordan 3 “Utility” is currently queued up for Spring 2027, placing it somewhere between the start of next year and March.
