Jalen Brunson Engineers Insane Knicks Comeback In New Nike Kobe 5 PE

Jalen Brunson Engineers Insane Knicks Comeback In New Nike Kobe 5 PE

Jalen Brunson continues to cement himself as one of basketball’s premier closers, and his performance down the stretch of the Eastern Conference Finals opener may go down as another defining chapter in his rapidly growing legacy. With the New York Knicks trailing the Cleveland Cavaliers by as many as 22 points with under eight minutes remaining, Game 1 appeared all but finished. Then Brunson took over.

The Knicks star erupted during the closing stretch of regulation, orchestrating a furious comeback that ultimately erased the massive deficit and forced overtime. By the end of the night, New York had completed its largest playoff comeback since 1970, another reminder of why Brunson has become widely regarded as one of the NBA’s most clutch performers and a true leader during the most pressurized points of competition.

Sneaker fans immediately noticed something else during the dramatic comeback: Brunson was debuting a brand new Player Exclusive version of the Nike Kobe 5 Protro. The PE features a striking mint green upper that many will likely associate with the Statue of Liberty, fitting naturally into New York-inspired storytelling. Adding even more energy to the design is a colorful spray-pattern graphic spread across the forefoot overlays and heel sections, creating one of the louder Kobe PEs Brunson has worn to date.

The Knicks guard has quietly become one of the best wear-testers for Nike Basketball’s Kobe line throughout the postseason, regularly unveiling exclusive colorways during major moments on the court. What makes Brunson’s sneaker debuts especially interesting is that he often follows up later on Instagram with personal details and storytelling behind each PE, meaning additional context surrounding this latest pair will likely emerge in the coming days (that is, unless he’s truly locked in and off the ‘gram). In April, he evealed a Kobe 5 PE inspired by a onesie worn by his daughter Jordyn, while more recently, he revealed a Kobe 3 Low Protro inspired by his love for the Dragon Ball Z anime.

For now, however, the sneaker is already attached to one of the most memorable playoff comebacks in recent Knicks history.
