Matt Varga Track record is everything when it comes to consumer confidence. Though A-Feeling is a name that only a few are aware of at the time of this writing, the newly-minted label already has a history of monumental designs behind them. How, you ask? Founder Drew White has already been in the driver’s seat plenty when it comes to footwear, steering the design of over two dozen Bodega collaborations before recently switching focus and lending a hand on the Nike x Kids of Immigrants Total 90 Mule.
Now staking out under this sentimental title, it’s only right that Saucony, frequent partner of his former employer, is there to kick off the next leg of the marathon. In a real trust fall of an initial rollout, A-Feeling already launched an early drop for this Saucony Paramount collab via their recently founded site. A heavily pixelated view of this multi-color edition made it so purchasers had to place their belief in the designer and the brand wholeheartedly.
The blend of earthy tones and brighter vibrant trim immediately harkens to the 1990s, despite the fact that the Paramount didn’t hit the market until ’06. Despite that, the Boston brand’s era-accurate marketing is in focus here, as White reaches back to when they launched the Grid system as the “Science of Wow.” Said motif defines the packaging that accompanies this eccentric yet balanced affair. In a particularly clever touch, A-Feeling subverts a call to fame for the Paramount: its uninterrupted open mesh arrangement on the medial side, with a menacing Three Rivers hangtag.
If you weren’t in on that aforementioned first pass, the A-Feeling x Saucony Paramount drops on the brand’s site on June 28th before a global launch takes place on July 2nd. A $185 retail price is confirmed across the board.
