New Balance has ramped up their overseas efforts, with cost-effective options like the 204L and spotlight product like the 2000 or 1890 keeping their manufacturing offshore. For the NB diehards, the Made in UK and Made in USA lines remain the real bread and butter. Zooming in on that domestically-produced lane, almost the exact same dichotomy plays out. Collaborations and seasonal showcase colorways may draw eyes, but New Balance has always stocked a roster of “always on” essential looks across their full Made in USA series.

Now adding to core “Grey,” “Black,” and “Olive” editions is this “Burgundy” New Balance 993 at hand. You’ll note that across all four of those pairs, the blocking and mid grey tonality remain the same, a sure sign that these are perennials, rather than non-series one-offs as we’ve seen on the “Blue Crab” or a budding brown/pink duo for the 992 and 990v4. Beyond the reliable combo of mesh and pigskin suede, there’s not much to say; this is a reliable, easily-styled variation vying to crack your daily rotation.
